Archaeologists at the mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang in Shaanxi province, China, have unearthed a life-size terracotta figure believed to represent a senior military commander. This statue, discovered in pit No. 2, is distinguished by intricate armor patterns, headdresses, and specific hand placement, indicating high rank. To date, only ten such statues have been found among the approximately 8,000 warriors at the site. The figure's symmetrical front and back, adorned with exquisite patterns and ribbons, provide valuable insights into the military organization and hierarchy of the Qin dynasty (221β207 BCE).
